Bereaved Persons Bill of Rights 1. You have a right to your pain, and for your pain not to be minimized. 2. You have a right to be angry (at life, people, disease, doctors, God, etc.) 3. You have a right to ask your friends for specific types of help. 4. You have a right to know who your friends are. 5. You have a right to take care of yourself by admitting to others you are not doing well right now. 6. You have a right to pity parties. 7. You have a right to enjoy any and all good moments that come your way during this difficult time. 8. You have the right to remember, to talk about, to see, to hear, and to experience the presence of your loved one around you. 9. You have the right to take from 1 to 5 years to work on the most difficult parts of your grief work. 10. You have the right to find, develop, and use meaningful rituals to commemorate the memory of your loved one on special days. |
